Jupiter Raising Movie Review

Twilight meets Hunger Games with some Divergent action thrown in. It shows that you can't compensate for lousy acting with CGI and action. Sure it's busy and may yet be a solid atmos demo disc but all that doesn't make up for the lack of chemistry and lazy acting dialed in by the actors. You really have to know some background, but there's scant character development, and it reminds me of Dune, it did not make a lot of sense when I watched in in the cinema... Good as a rental or buy it for the sound when it goes cheap. ______________________________________________________________  I have no financial interest or other interests in any of the items / events I write about.

Into the storm movie review

Think of it as a Twister Lite, light on acting, heavy on the action. Many scenes borrowed from other shows, eg the call dad whilst drowning part, or dark shelter scene during the first storm and more.. Bill Paxton would have done better even if he was drunk and stoned all at once. The main star here was the storm and certainly it faired better than any of the reel actors. Strong bass, good surround usage, a demo worthy soundtrack, but that's it. Another rental or buy when it turns up in the bargains bin kind of movie. ______________________________________________________________  I have no financial interest or other interests in any of the items / events I write about.

Black Sea Movie Review:

Image
This was a quiet Jude Law show that slipped under my radar when it appeared in the theatres. It's an odd one to classify, not your usual Hunt for Red October, and not quite Das Boot, it is nevertheless, quite entertaining. Jude Law commands a mixed crew of Brits and Russians to look for lost gold in the Black Sea, and sail right into a sea of turmoil. There's greed, mistrust, and it doesn't not take long before the fighting begins. The crew has to battle one another, and the dark sea, as well as evade the Russian ships above. This show did not opt for the usual Hollywood styled ending, and I was half hoping for a 'happy ever after' kind of ending myself. Worth a rental or even a buy if you are fond of this genre. Good surround effects as you would expect from a sub movie. ______________________________________________________________  I have no financial interest or other interests in any of the items / events I write about.
