"I'll be back"...

These are some of the most iconic and most often quoted phrases in movie history. And yes Arnie is back as the Terminator, and there are other stars who make it back in this sixth instalment of the franchise.

So how good is T6?

Well the plot is familiar actually, save a new girl from the latest Terminator, and he gets help from a motley crew of people, including one Linda Hamilton, who took a year to get into shape, and is one kick ass senior citizen who stares at Botox and facelifts in the face and blows them away. Now this is one hot babe who knows how to age gracefully.

Like T1 andT2, the cast is dominated by strong female characters, who don't just scream under pressure, nor do they shy away from making decisions within seconds and aren't complaining about broken nails or the wet floor and dirt every other minute. In fact Arnie does not even appear until the second third of the show.

T2 won almost universal acclaim and accolades because the plot and the characters mattered. This is despite it being a sci-fi movie with awards for the radical Liquid Metal CGI. I'm sure a few folks teared up when Arnie gave the thumbs up at the end. The later instalments had no shortage of action and solid CGI, but they lacked the same chemistry and character flow. Christian Bale tried to give some gravitas but he brought his Batman angst and the same 'sore throat' voice...The two Clarkes (Jason and Emilia) gave the last outing a different spin with a lot more time travel and I thought that was not a bad effort but fans didn't really endorse it at the box office, so did this instalment do any better?

I have to say that this instalment isn't as good as T2 but it does come close. Well, compared to the latter ones I guess.. Again the tight knit case knew how to spin a yarn. Having James Cameroon as the producer certainly didn't do the show any harm. The CGI is amazing of course and is de rigueur for such a show, but more than that, the show had purpose and the action was more of a seasoning rather than the main course. You get some snappy dialogue, but the plot remains a killer chase scene. And that's the major issue with this movie and the entire franchise - there are only so many ways you can redo this going back in time, saving the future hero kind against a killer robot kind of show.

But action fans should not feel disappointed, there are spades of action sequences and some new inventive ways blow people and things up. I was in a theatre with Atmos and this will definitely be a good demo 4k disc unless Disney does it...

With the two big stars from T2 coming to their sixties and seventies, this could really be the last time we see them, but the killer robot with the evil computer system could come back in other forms. They really needed to get some fresh plots because rehashing the same plot just does not help attract new fans. And it will never be the same without Arnie, who leveraged on his stiff acting and muscles to craft one of the most iconic movie characters ever created.

Hasta la vista T 800...

Worth a watch at least and a demo disc in the making ..
