Operation Fortune Movie Review

Guy Ritchie and Jason statham are one of those combinations that seems to keep striking cinema gold. With a string of hits under their belts can they conjure up another hit and make their fortunes?

The concept and plot are hardly new. Jason plays an action man of mystery working for yet another agency for the UK government to stop a rogue AI program from causing global meltdown.

The movie is very much by the books, he first assembles his team, a motley crew of individuals with 'skills' and there's is of course a rival team to make the job at hand more difficult.

The villain here is our versatile and reliable hugh grant who has mastered the transition from the debonair romantic leading man to playing likeable or funny antagonists who are bad but not vile, or at least don't terribly cruel. It's almost impossible to not smile at his antics and mannerisms as he plays a good counterfoil to Jason and his team. Josh hartnett has been given a reprieve but there is nothing meaty in his role as an actor acting as an actor for a spy..

The supporting cast play their roles with aplomb but it's not a big stretch and no one here save Hugh is given anything remotely resembling a character to identify with.

As a typical Hollywood blockbuster, there are thrills and spills, moments of humor and the good guys will reliably rise to the occasion to save the day. There is a sort of twist at the end but it's still a sweet wrap up.

However it does have its moments with a tight plot, good run time and not a lot of fat so time passes very quickly. Chemistry is good and dialogue flows well, making this a good effort if you need a couple of hours to turn off your brains.

Fans of Jason will not be disappointed as he features prominently with plenty of opportunities to show off his martial arts skills, his laconic humor and of course he gets the prize without much trouble.

Despite the by the numbers plot, Guy and Jason make this enjoyable and entertaining.

Worth a rent at least

Dynaudio is a company that has been in the speaker business for more than forty years and prides itself on making most of its components in house, especially the drivers and most of the cabinetry. Through the years they have developed many beloved components for their top end products and have also distilled them down to the masses whenever they launch a special edition. So they have adopted a similar format and take some of their finest drivers, an Esotar 3 tweeter and a woofer derived from the Evidence range and placed them into a more traditional walnut veneer speaker for us to sample.  Thus the Heritage Special (HS) was born.
