DNS Unlocker adware / malware - how to fix it on a Mac

I just wanted to share my experience with this, which had caused me quite a few sleepless nights. I am not some computer expert, so it took me a lot of effort, and also I should thank bro Wiz and the people at Applecare (Giovanne) and Malwarebytes (Thomas R) for helping me to resolve this. Essentially, I woke up one morning, and surfed the "AVS", "Clubsnap" forums and Straits Times pages, and suddenly found this green clover-shaped tag on the pages, and no matter where you clicked on the page, it caused a pop up to occur, leading to some advertisement page. This Malwarebytes page gives a good summary of what it is: https://malwaretips.com/blogs/ads-by-dns-unlocker-removal/ . Basically, it changes your DNS, which is like an address on your computer, then allowing the pop up ads to appear. I did google for solutions online, but things like resetting the Firefox and Safari, or going into Network preferences to check the IP4 or DNS did not help. I also fou...

Star Wars - The Force Awakens

It's a nice thing to be able to around to watch this epic series, so many years after the first show came out in 1977. The world has changed, yet so has this franchise, and yet some things have remained the same. So has JJ Abrams been able to carry the torch and propel the series into new frontiers? Well, yes, and no... Essentially if I had to use one word to describe his effort, it would be... safe. Or perhaps familiar is another. He has done his homework, and due diligence, and given homage to the original trilogy, even bringing back members of the old cast, and still managed to give life to new faces, and allow room for the franchise to grow. It's certainly not easy being at the helm of the seventh episode of a very successful franchise, and legions of fans will be quite happy. All the old heroes are there, and no Jar Jar Binks. You get a new Death Star like creation, and there is still that risk of eminent annihilation, new Jedi hopefuls, and lots of Stormtroo...

Helios - Blu Ray review

Helios - BR review Just watched this, and I have mixed thoughts about this show.. First the positives: On one hand, it has a remarkable Atmos soundtrack that is every bit a demo disc for any home. Even if you don't speak the lingo, it is quite solid and will serve you well to impress your guests. Good clear dialogue, effective use of surrounds, and fantastic Foley effects coming from numerous channels. Bass to enhance the mood, you name it, it has it. How about the movie then? Well, that's where the "but" begins... There is more than decent acting, and you get some of the top names from China, HKG, Korea etc all mixed into this rather convoluted plot. There are more twist and turns then Elvis on a hot tin roof.. the actors really get into it, and you also get plenty of eye candy, action and suspense, but after a while, the plot becomes too complicated for it's own good. It also tries to flirt with edgy, contemporary issues, like Snowdon, the Chinese...
